Yesterday was my first day out of Tokyo, I wake up early , make my backpack and leave my suitcase as the reception as I'll be returning in 4 days.
I get out and head down to the Shibuya station wehre I plan to activate my one week Japan Rail Pass.
I stop on my way for a tasty breakfast at Cafe de crie. Where I get the tasty breakfast sandwich set.
I then head down to the station JR ticket office where they tell me the JR pass can be exchanged only at the information desk starting 10 am, so much for the early start.
So I wander around Shibuya on this beautiful Sunday morning and py my respect to the Shibuya dog HachikÅ.
At 10 I get my JR pass then the tickets then I had less than 20 minutes to make it to Shinagwa station where I barely caught my Shinkansen to Odawara.
Once at Odwara I needed to get a bus to go to Hakone (Ynessun mae staation) there were several buses but only one that went where I needed to. Luckily I got some help and found my bus.
Once at the hotel it was 1 in the afternoon already ! But I couldn't check-in as it was not 3 pm and no check-ins before 3 pm. So I asked in Japanese if I could let my bag there and that was OK. The staff there did not speak English.
I headed out the hotel to have a better look at what those mountains looked like.
I but all there was was the car crowded main road my bus took and hotels on the sides.
I came across this:
It was a nice quiet road with just me on it, I waled for a while and couldn't hear the cars anymore. Who goes to the mountain to hear cars anyway ?
I came across a tree that was bout to fall.
There were a few houses and a cemetery (there's a hidden cat in the next picture)
It was nice , but I wanted Fuji... So I kept going after a while it became quiet, I turned back ans saw this.
I was alone, but I wanted Fuji, so I kept going.
Then I saw this, got on it.
but the mountain was kinda small .. and far ...
I got passed by a pirate ship!
I wanted to see the Mt Fuji it better so I kept going.
still not good enough
So I kept going...
That path would not take me further ...
To my right I noticed for the first time a structure and wondered what it was, I thought to myself ," I wish I was there I bet I could see the Mt Fuji well from there." Then I kept going.

I did the only thing I could , follow that road looking for a way out of it into the woods or something.
I hadn't come ll this way to see just a crowded mountain road.
I came across this:
I could not read the sign, outside Tokyo many signs are in Japanese only. There was a mountain road behind it so I took it.
I came across a tree that was bout to fall.
A little further I came face to face with a bad kitty gang. They didn't seem too troubled by my presence but they were definitely not thrilled either.
There were a few houses and a cemetery (there's a hidden cat in the next picture)
I then kept following the road as it lead back to the main road and walked behind houses far less fancy than the hotels you could see from the main road.
After I made it back to the road I took the bus again passed in front of the hotel and made it all the way to the Lake Ashi and got down at Moto Hakone.
I saw in the brochures you could see the mount Fuji from the lake.
I went by the lake and looked around, no mount Fuji.
The weather was beautiful though and I was happy to be there.
I saw a crowd that was headed out of the town toward the side of the lake and thought maybe they are headed there so that they can get a view from there, so I followed them.
They all were headed to see this
I was alone, but I wanted Fuji, so I kept going.
Then I saw this, got on it.
yeah! Fuji.
but the mountain was kinda small .. and far ...
I got passed by a pirate ship!
I wanted to see the Mt Fuji it better so I kept going.
still not good enough
So I kept going...
That path would not take me further ...
So I decided to keep going that direction following the traffic road
After a while longer I made it to civilization again and saw this.
I wonder where I was then I turned my head and saw this !
The best view I had yet from the Fuji Yama.
The I saw it the structure I had seen before at the top was the arrival of the ropeway , I could now get there too! I got on the ropeway.
Victory ! I took pictures as It was going up.
Then I reached the top.
In japan when you are with ticked you become a wicket
Here is what I'd seen from bellow.
from up there I got two nice panoramic pictures.
The lake:
The Fuji yama:
As I headed back down it started to get dark and I had a loooong way to go back to catch a bus, If I missed the last bus I would be trapped there.
So I hurried back.
And the peaceful landscape turned into a more threatening one with the nightfall
At least the red gate was less crowded when I reached it on my way back
By the time I made it back to town it was night.
I was not the only one to wait for the bus, I had to wait the next one which was also the last one.
By the time I made it back to the hotel I fel asleep right away,
I woke up at midnight to enjoy the natural hot spring which was my main reason for coming here. It was wonderful , especially after that busy day.
